When using a monochromatic palatte you are simply matching a chosen colour with beads of that same shade.
Vibrant colour create distinctive eye catching pieces especially set against plain clothing. The opposite can also be true.
When placed next to each other, complementary colours make each other appear brighter. Choose an accent bead in a complimentary colour if your goal is to show off the colour of your principle bead. Dark shades of one colour can be effectively mixed with light colours of complimentary colour for added riche ness.
The neighboring or 'triadic' colour palette uses three colours equally spaced around the colour wheel. This scheme is popular because it offers strong visual contrast while retaining harmony and colour richness. Triadic colour harmonies tend to be quite vibrant, even if you use pale or unsaturated versions of your hues. Try letting one colour dominate and use the two others for accent.
