Bugles

Bugle beads are sized differently from other seed beads, the longer the bead, the higher the number used. Being small glass cylinders which are cut at different lengths, make them a very effective bead to work with. Because the ends are flat instead of rounded, work recreated has a flat smooth texture and comes out more even and uniform - however, the ends can sometimes be sharp so care should be taken that the beads do not end up cutting threads being worked with. They are best used with bead stringing wire or monofilament and whilst they can be incorporated into bead weaving, it is always advisable to have a seed bead on each end of the bugle to help protect the thread.
